Do you attend NASCAR when it's in town?

I'm watching from the comfort of my chair.  The air in downtown Atlanta looks very thick.

I went to a few back in the 90's but I don't even watch any more unless it's a road course.

We had a beautiful sunny day, early on, but it started to become overcast.  Still was very comfortable temps, though.

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

The racing has gone downhill, for sure.  I wish they would go to an elimination format, and use stock engines and transmissions.

I grew up with racing.  I understand it--or did, when the idea was my car against yours.  This idea of "stock cars" that are anything but stock, with an emblem slapped on them makes little sense to me.

Actually, the track is not anywhere near downtown Atlanta, but in the town of Hampton, several miles to the south.
Personally, I'd much rather drive on Road Atlanta (and have), which is a road course with some nice curves.
The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.

Hmm.  The commentators mentioned the view of downtown Atlanta from the track.

Road courses are certainly more fun to drive.

You can see the tops of the skyscrapers from the upper decks and observation deck.  That area is also relatively flat with Atlanta sitting at about 1000 ft. elevation, so it may help to give a clearer view.

I don't watch it anymore. The bill france family has RUINED stock car racing forever.
You can't fix stupid but, you can adjust it with a 2x4.

Ruined, yes.   Forever, probably not.  As people arrive at that opinion, it will become a self-solving problem.

I've never been to a NASCAR race. Not really interested in "cookie cutter" cars going 200 MPH in a circle.
I offer my apologies to anyone who takes issue with my comment. If you get something from it, I salute you.

Since the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger are all in production, I would like to see a revival of the Trans Am series. ("Trans Am" may actually be copyrighted/trademarked. I would be happy with a reasonable facsimile of the old series - whatever they want to call it.)
Cars should have stock body shells, floor pans, and engine blocks, and heads. Otherwise, give it hell. Run on road courses, of course. :D

I don't want anyone to get hurt; however, it's about 200MPH wrecks.

And he was the one that went after the other guy.  Looks like he bit off more than he could swallow.

He never even got Logano.

That official picked Kyle up like a sack of potatos.  Kyle tried to get loose to continue fighting.  He was fighting 5 or 6 crewmen.  And Kyle has no discernable athletic ability.

Kyle was mad because he basically wrecked himself.  Usually, he manages to wreck the other person and get through, but this once he failed.

Karma...gotta love it.

Or in this case Carma.

I didn't know he had it in him.  Logano usually gets out of fights, too.  Someone else does the dirty work.
