Sun Roof Seal
« on: May 17, 2009, 11:44:39 am »
During the last club meeting some of us were talking about installing new seal and still leaking.. Since the seal is'nt marked front or rear I assumed it just went in.. I installed my new seal about 2 weeks ago and it still leaked.. This past friday I took it out and turned it around and during yesterdays thunderstorm I did not have one drop of water enter the car.. With the glass removed & the seal installed it looked the same installed either way, but when it's installed right & glass closed you definately can see an improved seal...

Thanks for the tip.  I installed one on a member's car and it is worse than the old one we took out.

Another sunroof seal tip, or any rubber weather seal for that matter.  About once a month, wash the rubber with Simple Green, then rub it down with castor oil.  That's castor oil, the medicinal type, not Castrol, the engine type.  :)

What happened with this?  Where did you source the seal?

The Fiero Store was selling sunroof seals and also the mounting rails.  Don't know if they still have them, though.

I have the TFS sunroof seal, but have not tried installing it.  My sunroof doesn't leak--yet.  I have heard mixed reviews on this seal, from OK to no way in heck.  This makes me wonder if perhaps people are putting it on backward.

Yes, but the bolt info shows a nut.
