Need Help With 2009 Run For The Hills # 14
« on: May 23, 2009, 02:04:24 pm »
The route is laid out and I plan to base the run from Franklin, NC.  We need someone to set up a hotel, or suggest one that I can go check out.  We stayed at the MicroTel Inn before, but some complained of the rooms having a very strong odor to them.  My room was a non-smoking room, but I think it only had the ash trays removed for our stay.

We also need a restaurant that can seat all of us, and give each party separate checks, or offer 3 different entree meals.  Maybe one steak, one chicken, and one seafood, with sides.  The Factory is next door to the MicroTel, and may be a good place, if they will have us back.

I also need someone to contact vendors to get donations for our raffle.

We need a design for the event Tshirt.  Something to do with The Dragon.

Looks like you can't get any help. So put me down and I'll check with some of our members and see if they'll help. It'll be a long drive but it'll be worth it. Just let me know what you want me to do.

Hotel suggestions:
Days Inn, 1320 E Main St. Senior rate is about $51.
Budget Inn, 433 E. Palmer Street. Their website lists "hiker rates" at $35. Not sure what other rates are.

I have a dragon picture at home. I will photograph it (too big to scan) and see if it's suitable for a shirt design.

Another hotel suggestion:
The Franklin Motel. Rates start at $35-$45 for a double bed room.
Edit: Address is 17 W. Palmer St.

Thank you, Pat.  I'll drive up one weekend and take a look at them.

I will be happy to donate some prizes.
I can make some hats(6) with the fiero logo on it.
and I will make 1 jacket with the Large fiero logo on the back.
That should help.

And Charlie...you know when you need help to just call..right?

As far as I know, the only thing to be raffled is what Kevin offered above.  Thanks.  Bring a big stick to beat a few extra bucks out of everyone.

I plan to have another set of 6 limited edition event coffee mugs made, too, and of course, there will be tshirts.

We might as well have a 50/50. Also maybe the club can afford to buy 4,  $50.00 gift certificates from the Fiero Store. Also if any body else has parts they are willing to donate. I know Pat has some he is willing to part with.

We had a good meeting, today, even though we were missing about half our our regulars.  Ben Johnson and Whodeanie joined us, taking a little breather from their Fiero projects.  John Upchurch is back in town and he and his wife Joy rejoined us.

The major topic was this year's Run For The Hills.  We will be taking on The Dragon, again.  Kevin, Linda, and Dean will be contacting various Fiero Products manufacturers or vendors to seek donations for our event raffle.  Some members offered to donate some good used parts for raffle.  In addition to other offerings, I have several intermitant wiper boards, EGR solenoids and MAP sensors to offer.

If you have anything to offer or would like to help get product donations, let us know.  You can email the President, Vice President, or Secretary Treasurer at GeorgiaFieroClub@gmail.com

Pat and I are driving up to Franklin on Saturday to check out the 3 motels Pat mentioned The Days Inn, The Budget Inn, and The Franklin Inn and we will also ask if the Factory restaurant will let us come back.
