Easier than that.  Pull off the cover, and look at the fluid.  If the fluid is parallel to the top of the tank, there is no upward angle.

You can visually compare buy looking at the reservoir cover and the casting line on the body of the master cylinder.  They seem to be parallel to one another on all units. 

I have seen some MC's that had the slanted reservoir.  It may have been used in vehicles that had a steeper slope hood, as in the vans. 
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
