is that all you are looking for is the free rear bumper?

Nah, I don't want you to think that, I'm not a Jerk. Bumper or not, I'm coming to see some nice Fiero's too and meet you guys. I don't know what these meeting are about. I got off early from work to get there at 1:30pm since you guys suggested it. I've actually only been to one car show, and that was for my Mustang back in the day.

I am gonna be miserable driving home on Saturday without air conditioning. Yesterday was miserable in 90 degree heat. The car overheated in the traffic REAL fast. I plan to burp the system, that's an art from what I've read about the heater core hose etc...and add a larger fan to the radiator and pray that fixes it. I'm also ordering a new 180 thermostat.

On many cars, turning on the AC puts a load on them, causing them to run hot.  In the case of the Fiero, it helps to keep it cool.  The engine, that is.

When the temperature control buttons are in the Max, Norm, or Def position, the cooling fan is energized.  We often unplug the cycle switch on the receiver-dryer when we're running in the hills.  Climbing mountains and constantly running in 3rd gear raises the coolant temp, so we turn on the AC and they don't get a chance to get hot.

Try the AC trick before you get into bumper to bumper traffic.  Keep it cool rather than trying to cool it down.  Probably no need to go to the lower temp thermostat as that can sometimes cause it to run too cool, telling the ECM to dump more fuel into the system.

That's a good Idea. I assume the A/C being will turn up the speed of the fan.
The GT doesn't have a compressor on it anymore. I plan to fix that soon but I also assume it will act as if there is a compressor there and adjust the idle and the fan speed right. That's been my experience before with other cars.

The Fiero cooling fan is a 2 speed fan.  ON and OFF :)  It doesn't run unless the engine fan switch is closed by higher temperatures, or when the AC circuit is energized.  Energizing the circuit also tells the ECM to bump the idle speed up about 150 RPM to handle the additional load from the compressor.

The circuit doesn't care whether or not there's a compressor.  At the same time the cooling fan is energized, the engine cooling fan in the right side of the trunk is also activated, blowing cooler air onto the alternator and ignition coil.

Oh I had read about the trunk blower, but didn't realize it was in every GT. I'll have to go look at that.

It isn't only for the GT.  It's part of the V6 engine group, except that it was eliminated in the 88 model year.

88' was supposedly the year that they fixed all the overheating issues right?

I'm not aware of any modifications to the cooling system going all the way back to the 85 V6.  I think they just decided it wasn't necessary.

The 2 major improvements to the 88 was the internally balanced engine and the suspension.  The 87 and 88 got some improved oiling.

OH! Sorry I took that wrong, I thought I might have offended you. LOL! Hard to get emotion over a keyboard. :-)
Um, I can't think of anything specific that i need.
Did I mention something in another thread? I have a real BAD memory, for a good reason, but still a bad memory. Things leave my memory almost as fast as they go in sometimes, I'm getting better remembering though. :-)

Oh, I have the warped console door. It's pretty bad but manageable after some gluing. Both of my cars radio surrounds are cracked but I think I am gonna buy that black out dash kit for the GT and not worry too much about the Sport.
The Console door is presentable now

The radio surround in the Sport is cracked on the top right screw

The GT's console cover is VERY soft and plyable, that one should glue up nicely. :-)

The radio surround in the GT has every hole cracked around but not bad looking otherwise.

I'll show ya the car on Saturday. You guys will have to tell me what you think of the ol' girl.
The paint on the GT is shiny, but has a lot of chips that reveal the Red original color and also show the inexperience in spraying a car( Runs, bad clear coating etc..) The car has that 5' rule where it looks good standing 5' away.

Edit: Oops, I thought you were someone else.

Yes I do.  I have the rear one from you that i was going to most likely install on the sport after I patch it. I have started wet sanding the Sport on the roof and starting there so it will be a little bit before I get down to the bumpers for prep.
