Hello all..
Sadly I am at a point where I need to sell my Fiero. I am in need of a small hatchback for my business and the Fiero doesn't get driven very much anymore - too hard to justify keeping it.
Background:
I purchased it locally (northeast Georgia) in 2008 as a project car with 108,720 miles on it and I have put about 3,500 miles on it in three years. It ran and I drove it home however there were many, many issues with it including brakes, tires, headlight motors, suspension, non-working stereo, headliner rotted out, etc. I have done a fair amount of work on it myself over the past three years and what I couldn't / didn't want to handle myself I had done by Whodeanie in Marietta. In all cases of parts replacement I bought the best parts that I could find (typically GM / Delco stuff).
It has been garage-kept since I've owned it and does not leave fluids on the floor. The car runs wonderfully, starts every time, and is certainly reliable enough to be a great daily driver, weekend fun car, or a base for a full-on restoration.
Here are some specifics:
- 1988 Fiero Formula
- Manual Getrag 5-Speed transmission
- 2.8L V-6 Engine
- I purchased it in 2007
- 112,211 miles
- "CJB" car - factory T-Tops, both tops are in great shape and work wonderfully. Seals are also good although I have not had it in the rain to know if they leak or not. I also still have the original bags for the tops.
- Original engine with no issues, starts and runs great.
- Clutch was rebuilt ~5,000 miles before I purchased it (I think I have the receipt for that)
- Replaced Ignition Control Module, ignition coil, pickup coil, plugs, wires, etc. when I purchased it
- Replaced the lower intake manifold
- Replaced all rotors, pads and soft brake lines as well as one caliper that was locked up
- Replaced clutch master cylinder
- Rebuilt clutch slave cylinder
- Rebuilt Getrag shifter with Rodney Dickman's kit
- Rebuilt Select Arm with Rodney Dickman's kit
- Replaced entire E-brake cable assembly - everything except the lever
- Replaced the original 4-spoke / horn paddle steering wheel with a NEW Fiero Store 3-spoke GT style leather-wrapped wheel
- Replaced the water pump
- Rebuilt headlight motors
- Replaced Alternator
- Replaced Stereo and speakers with Clarion and Pioneer equipment
- Polyurethane bushings installed by Whodeanie
- New Held/KYB Gas-Adjust Shocks, Struts and Coilovers from HT Motorsports installed by Whodeanie
- Poly dogbone installed
- Dickman Steering Rack bushing installed
- Replaced Ball Joints with Dickman parts
- Nearly new Cooper Zeon ZBT tires with ~1,400 miles on them
Known Issues:
- The paint is in bad shape. There are many scratches, clear coat stripping off.
- The A/C is disconnected - I do not know if it works or not (never needed it - always drove with tops out)
- The panel ("B" pillar?) behind the driver's seat is cracked in the middle
- The interior is so-so - the shift surround is a expanded and warped, the drivers seat had several tears so I took them out and put some Sunbird seats in (I still have the original seats - waiting patiently to be recovered), I did a so-so job of recovering the headliner (it's a lot better than it was though - broken in to 5 pieces!), carpet isn't great, dash is pretty good though with one crack under the driver's side vent
- The new GT-style steering wheel needs the spring-loaded pin for the horn to work
- The tachometer reads high
- The gas gauge works but isn't incorrect (the car is nearing empty when the guage shows between 1/4 - 1/8 of a tank)
The new owner will get all of the receipts that I have, a box of some miscellaneous parts and a couple of tools (brake caliper tool and a push rod removal tool), a Haynes manual and the original seats that would be fantastic with some new Mr. Mike's leather covers!
I have the title in-hand and am ready to sell. Every price in this world is negotiable but I am looking for $3,900 out of it - FAR less than what I have in it. I will also trade with cash for a Toyota Yaris 3-Door Hatchback. Send me a PM here or call / text me at (678)523-3756. I am happy to answer any questions that you might have but please, serious inquiries only.
