A/C problems 2.5L

Could a too weak alternator cause the A/C clutch not to engage?
Just replaced the compressor, but clutch won't engage
Checked fuses, all good

Anybody have an idea?

Or should I just go ahead and replace the compressor again? Anybody have one for sale?

Check your low pressure switch. Or jump it over by hooking up a short wire in the connector.

I'm not sure about the 4 cylinder compressors, but the V6's have a small resistor on the clutch.  If that got damaged, the compressor clutch won't work.  I don't think the alternator would have any effect as long as the battery has power enough to run the engine.

If your compressor is a DA6/HR6, there will be a pressure switch on the accumulator. Remove the connector from it and jumper the connector. If it is a V5, there will be two pressure switches on the back of the compressor. Remove both and jumper the connectors with cut paper clips.
Start the car and then turn the AC on. If your compressor doesn't engage, it could be a clutch problem.

Is it very difficult to just replace the clutch on a compressor, or would it be more feasible to just replace the entire compressor?

Does anyone know if the compressor from a V6 can be used for an Iron Duke?

Worked like a charm (HR6), pressure switch was bad (inexpensive, replaced)

And ALAS! The 84 Duke has cold air again!!
