On the Mera, were the GTS letters stuck on, or was there a hole for the letters?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Tighten fuel block fittings?

Is there a way to do this in 3 minutes or less, as in, without removing the upper intake?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / OPS TSB
« on: October 22, 2019, 06:17:28 pm »
The oil pressure sender TSB locates the oil lines down near between the cat and the manifold.  Apparently, although GM recommended this, apparently some people do not like this, to the point that my vehicle was deemed unsafe.

Thoughts?

General Discussion / Meteor heading our way, next month
« on: October 21, 2019, 06:17:51 pm »
A 650-meter meteor will pass near Earth on 11-21-19.  It may get closer than expected, due to the Yarkovsky effect.

Quote
The Yarkovsky effect is where the soft force of sunlight can steer asteroids into Earth-crossing orbits and drastically alter the layout of their paths across solar system.

Apparently, there are rating scales for meteors.  Everything from missed me, missed me; to scary close; to changing the landscape of Earth.

This one is traveling at a mere 18,000 miles per hour.

General Discussion / High-banked highways?
« on: October 20, 2019, 01:46:21 pm »
Yesterday, I crested a hill, and stopped at a stop sign, intending to make a left onto a state highway.  Only thing was, I could not see the highway.  There was literally nothing to see in front of me.  So, I got out to look.  The highway was so steeply banked, that the other side of the highway was 3 storeys lower.  The highway was 2 lanes, each way, with a center lane.  My truck canted at an unpleasant angle.

I don't mind driving through highzbanked turns at 130+ MPH on a track, but where the speed limit is 55MPH, and I have to start from a stop in the middle?  Not so much.

The Market / Burt Reynolds' TA?
« on: October 19, 2019, 08:35:01 am »
A TA formerly owned by Burt Reynolds (supposedly) will be auctioned off.  That's the story.

Personally, I think it looks as if someone just had the car autographed by him.  Why would anyone write that on their own vehicle?

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / LED trunk light?
« on: October 17, 2019, 11:29:14 pm »
Since mine has gone missing, I'm looking for a new one, but one that disperses light into the trunk better.

There was a post on this, somewhere, but I can't find it.

What do you use?

General Fiero Discussion / In-progress Fiero threads
« on: October 16, 2019, 07:14:16 pm »
We currently have some interesting in-progress Fiero threads.  Leaving out Donster's and mine, we have the following:
1. Aerodonamic
2. The new life of the fastback Formula
3. The new life of the 3800 "Formula"
4. Scott's 4.9

Fierofool's '86 apparently lost its temper, and blew a gasket.

Perhaps if these owners worked together on one Fiero at a time, these Fieros could be fixed in short order.

Selling most of my cars. This is one that I've had for quite some time. I purchased this car in 2008 from the original owners with 83,000 miles on it in non-running condition. The car has the optional suede leather interior which is still in great shape with no rips or tears. the dash corners are still intact as well. The headliner and visors were recovered and still look great. The only part of the interior that looks unsightly is the center console storage door, it is curling up and I never replaced it because I was going to install a subwoofer there. Shortly after getting the car, I replaced the engine with one from an 88 GT with 62k on it. I also replaced the clutch at that time. The car runs and drives excellent and has decent power, the GETRAG manual trans is in great shape with NO grinding or unusual quirks. As usual, the A/C does not work, it needs a new compressor. I converted the system over to R-134 and charged the system up and it actually worked fantastic for one whole summer until the original compressor seized up and threw the belt. Compressors can be had from any local parts store for around $180 and it WILL work again. everything else works as it should, the heat and all airflow selections, power windows, mirrors, locks etc. I have upgraded several systems on the car as well, the headlight mechanisms have been rebuilt with brass gears, the window switches have been replaced with new ones as well as having "voltage increasers" installed so they go up and down faster with less load on the switches. The fuel and coolant temp gauges have been replaced with new as well as the fuel pump and sending unit for accurate readings. The shifter has been replaced with a shorter throw, not a stumpy little thing that makes it a pain to drive, but just a smoother operating and more positive feeling shifter, the shift mechanism has also been rebuilt with all new bushings and a "shift kit" consisting of new brackets and shift arms has been installed on the trans. The front suspension has been completely rebuilt with poly bushings, a newer rack with lower miles and the entire brake system has been redone as well with new rotors, pads and calipers. The parking brake system has been totally replaced as well but still doesn't work...shocker. The cruise control and electric trunk release no longer work but did up until about a year ago, haven't gotten around to fixing them yet. I have a new pair of qtr glass windows with the correct thick white foam tape for the car that I was waiting to install until after I painted the car, but I haven't gotten to that yet either.. All lights and blinkers work as they should, I installed a factory Pontiac CD player from a 2000ish Grand Prix GTP and it has Rockford Fosgate speakers in the sail panels with factory ones in the dash. Also installed a hard to find glove box on the dash. Sunroof and trunk weatherstrips are new as well and car doesn't leak anything anywhere, inside or out. Ive got everything needed to install a supercharged 3800 V6 into this car, brackets, mounts, engine, etc, that are available after the sale for an additional amount if so desired. I really wanted to finish this car but I have to many cars and not enough time. You can drive this car anywhere as is or put a nice paint job on it and really look great. These cars are going up in value and are really starting to come into their own again, so buy as an investment or simply enjoy a really cool car that was way ahead of its time.

Hi, I am selling my 1986 Pontiac Fiero 3800SC. PRICE 1500 CASH ! LOCATION - lawrenceville GA It was originally a notch back 4cyclinder. I swapped fastback got parts and a 1998 GTP supercharged engine with intercooler. The block have less than 40kmiles and the heads have with new viton valves seals comp can 105 springs , new spring retainer. The car mileage is around 108xxx. It does have an OBD2 port for hooking scanner and checking codes. I drove it around my cul de sac a few times in early September but it will need work to make it road legal. I have to use starter fluid to start it now because I damaged two injectors(my son thought they were toys when I was cleaning them) but I have a extra set of aftermarket 42lbs injectors(used) support over 450 horsepower easily. It will definitely need a tune as it runs pretty rich. Brake lines just upgraded to braided steel lines and all fluids flushed. It does have a small vacuum leak somewhere near the throttle body plate( original throttle was slightly damaged). I purchased a used throttle body to replace the old one( just installed). The fan wires were cut and the headlight wires will need to be reworked(the headlights do come on). The transmission shift bracket will also need to be custom made(cable is installed). The bumper front frame support was removed because I was going to a custom kitcar but stopped midway and rewelded the bracket back on because I know longer wanted to modify the car. The car will be usable for parts car for someone or an extensive project for someone who wants to restore it. RIMS NOT INCLUDED! Bring your on wheels. I may have a 2 spare wheels but you will have to bring the other two. The bumper , rear bumper and other parts are not fully installed. Definitely a big project.
Car will need to be trailered.
The reason I am selling is due to not enough time to tinker with cars anymore and more time tinker with my other vehicles. I am sure I am forgetting mods but I have plenty of random parts to give away. There is lots of money in mods and parts. So it is a pretty good deal. Car location Lawrenceville GA. Who ever purchased it will get many of used parts and some new. I am sure I am forgetting some mods. BRING A TRAILER.

Mods are:
1998 Grand Prix gtp engine
Supercharger Intercooler
Walboro 255 fuel pump

You probably should take the Fiero for a drive, first, to make sure there will not be any issues.  If anything bad happens on the first trip, you'll never hear the end of it.
