Club News / Re: NEW 2024 MEETING PLACE COMING FOR MARCH
« on: March 09, 2024, 07:02:01 pm »
Those of you who didn't attend today missed a good meal.  At least most of us thought so.  One attendee feels that he may have gotten food poisoning from his selection.  He has been in contact with the restaurant and they have compensated him for the meal.

Aside from that, the service was an issue for most of us.  Pricing was definitely a subject of discussion.  The noise level was high and members had difficulty in conversing and conducting the meeting, but that's somewhat expected for a busy restaurant.

The proposal on the table is that we move the next meeting to the Cracker Barrel Country Store and Restaurant located at 2150 Delk Rd, Marietta, GA 30067.

Exit 261 off I-75.  This is the Lockheed Dobbins AFB exit, Delk Road.  The entrance is actually off Franklin Gateway.

Bring a flathead V8 and a mid-engine V6 along.  And yes, this is only about 2 miles from you.

General Fiero Discussion / 84 Fiero at Atlanta Pull A Part
« on: March 06, 2024, 10:28:16 am »
A red 84 with luggage rack and gray interior has just been placed on the yard at the Conley, South Atlanta Pull A Part.

It looks pretty decent.  Key is in the deck lid.  Tail lights look unbroken and could be made to look nice with a little polishing.  SE quarter windows.  The one wheel shown looks to be decent.

I just saw one of the forecasts and they're saying periods of heavy rain tapering off through the day.

General Fiero Discussion / Re: Looking for shops to rebuild my 2.8
« on: February 23, 2024, 08:32:09 pm »
You may come out better by just purchasing another engine.  Take a look at these guys and compare prices to anyone local who says they can rebuild yours.  A 3.1 or 3.4 may be just as cheap as a rebuild of yours.  At your option, you coud just install your heads if thy are good, or have the reconditioned locally.  For a 3.1 or 3.4 you would just need to buy a neutrally balanced flywheel or flexplate.

Lucky you.  I've never in all my years been called for jury duty.  My county was just seeking volunteers to serve on the Grand Jury and I gave it some thought but didn't volunteer.  It's a 6-month commitment.

We have received an invitation to participate in the Dunwoody Pines Retirement Community
Father's Day Classic Car Show and Cookout, located in Dunwoody, GA. scheduled for Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 12 Noon to 2 pm.

Like ourselves, older people tend to appreciate good American automobiles when cars were cars.

Any interest in attending this one?

I have been in correspondence with the Life Enrichment Director and she says she has sent out invitations to other car clubs in the area.  They have room for 30-40 cars, so it might be good if we can commit a few cars early on.  If we don't want our cars touched, they can rope them off if we want.  The show is strictly for the residents of the independent living center.  She said she was talking with the residents about the show and one resident in particular just lit up talking about one of his classics that he had owned.

There will be a free cookout for the residents and participants after the show.

There was no mention of any entry fee, but maybe it's something the club can cover if everyone agrees.

Come on, folks.  Let's do this one!

We received a reply to my inquiry to Sandy Springs about their St. Patrick's Day Parade.  They will not be holding a parade this year, but will only be doing a festival.  Is anyone interested in the Dublin, Ga. parade?  Dublin is about 15 miles east of Macon, on the way to Savannah.

I also checked with Statham, Ga. and they will not be holding a parade this year.
