These are the "touring" boikes lonnng before the "touring boike" era.

This one has electrical issue and has been dropped but it is free!

I realise you are not a huge amount closer to San Francisco than I am....but you might know someone interested.

Might be worth me posting on PFF too?

If interested let me know.

General Fiero Discussion / Fiero ready for warm/dry when it comes
« on: March 06, 2021, 11:42:46 am »
Today I have something fiero to report..

Pushed dangermouse out of the batcave (that should probably be 221b baker Street).  Key in and vroom.

A general checking of things then ensued.  All looks good for the rain to wash away the salt and leave me with nice dry roads please..and then end of lockdown 3 (essential journeys only) would help.

« on: September 05, 2020, 06:11:23 am »
Greetings GA'ers!  I have a day off...good times.  And after 20 years of searching for a lower air dam for 87/88 coupe nose I have one...really good times!

I was offered this part over 2 years ago...and it was supposed to be sent but noubt showed.  The guy forgot about it and only just came across the part last week..and very kindly sent it.

It is covered in red paint/glue/filler/fibreglass goop and prolly a few other substances.

Now to find summat that will be kind to the plastic but zap all those nasties.

Hope you are all fit and well. Xx

General Fiero Discussion / Did I saw a Saginaw?
« on: August 21, 2019, 03:10:38 pm »
So for 20 odd years I thought I had a 4speed muncie grrrbox but now I continue my education with the "Fiero spotter's guide" and 4 speed muncie isn't an option for my 1986 Fiero...

Since the only 4 speed option is a "Saginaw" I guess I have that!

General Fiero Discussion / F40 Grrrbox

Is it true that these sell for more than $1200 second hand in the US of A?

None of those cars listed are available in UK so selling this could be tricky.

Just interested is all.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Clutch banjo connection to pedal
« on: May 31, 2019, 10:55:21 am »
1986 V6 SE.

I pressed the clutch down to start to drain fuel for filter change and the pedal suddenly gave way and hit the deck.

The pedal had detached from the banjo.  I have not been sitting in to start as the car is up on stands so have probably been a slightly twisted load to clutch pedal ..  doh.

The pictures in Haynes and 22P do not resemble how my pedal attaches.   They show a bush each side and then a metal clip holding the banjo onto the pedal.

I have no metal clip and a single clip type bush that goes around the pedal shaft and through the banjo.  There is nothing else holding the clutch pedal on to the banjo.

Does this description sound familiar to anyone?  I have no idea where I am going to find said clip/bushing thing...gulp.

Any help appreciated.  On a brighter note the fuel filter is done.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Identification and Torque Setting
« on: May 24, 2019, 11:09:09 am »
There is a brace that is just infront of the fuel tank and just behind the spare wheel tub. Runs side to side.

Can anyone tell me the name of this or more importantly a torque setting for the bolts please?

General Fiero Discussion / Steering Rack Finish
« on: April 27, 2019, 12:37:33 pm »
1986 V6

My steering rack is mechanically spot on but aesthetically not so good. This is mostly due to the body of the rack which I painted black about 16 years ago.

I have had a delve through Google pictures and it looks like the standard finish is silver?  Is this silver paint or just the unpainted metal?  I am tempted to clean it all up and just leave it bare but with a coat of acf50 to protect.

General Fiero Discussion / Fuel tank rubber hoses - still available?
« on: April 19, 2019, 01:27:38 am »
There are two larger diameter rubber hoses at the back of the fuel tank.  Mine look mouldy and the squishometer reveals very thin walled.

Does anyone know if these are still available please?

The problem I have is that my tellingbone won't let me access the cave!!

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Starter motor hamster
« on: March 19, 2019, 10:02:18 am »
I resisted the very very tempting starter motor on rock auto.  AC Delco all lovely and shiney!!!

I have cleaned and painted the old one instead.  A large amount of fibrous material exited when stood on its end.  I guess this is most likely to be old clutch material?  I can't think of any fibrous product that would be an integral part of a starter motor!!!!  There is probably a golf ball size of material in total.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Oil pan sealing
« on: February 11, 2019, 11:50:04 am »
It's me again...

I had a new gasket arrive from the US for my 1986 V6 with the rancid cork/rubber gasket arrangement.

The gasket didn't make it in one piece, it's ripped.  I am wondering if it is worth trying a gasket free install instead using only RTV?  Has anyone tried this?  What were results Vs rancid cork arrangement?

I might be being a bit harsh as the last cork one has done 15 odd years.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Harmonically unbalanced!!
« on: February 11, 2019, 11:45:27 am »
I found a GM harmonic balancer described on eBay as "new".  It has arrived and is definitely not new.  Returning is not an option.

It has a decent wear groove where the timing case seal sits.  Joyous!!

I have heard talk of a harmonic balancer repair sleeve kit, which includes a sleeve oversize the shaft and then a new seal of correct dimensions for now oversized shaft.

I think the "national" brand make them but am having no luck finding a part number.  Can anyone help please?  Is for a 1986 V6.

Thanks.
