General Fiero Discussion / Re: My Fiero 3800na Swap by Lee Arnett
« on: December 21, 2012, 09:44:47 pm »
Just curious, what did the swap cost you?  I didn't notice it mentioned and where was this located?  Thanks.

Do you already have a harness done?  Is the engine and cradle currently out?  I need to know pretty much exactly where the swap was left off.  I can then give you a pretty decent time frame on finishing it IF we don't run into anything crazy with it.

I wish I was closer, our garage here specializes in Fiero performance swaps and repair.  Sounds like you have mostly the remaining tidbit things to do.  FYI the factory ECU will run the car, if you can find a manual ECU that will stop the SES light from coming on BUT the auto will run the car if you cant find one.

General Fiero Discussion / Fiero Tuning
« on: August 14, 2012, 12:38:52 am »
Hey guys, I wanted to get on and let everyone know that my garage now offers tuning for ANY year and ANY engine Fiero.  We have recently been able to FULLY TUNE the factory Fiero ECU's.  We also still offer the 7730 ECU swap for those interested.  We offer a full on base tune with some fueling and timing tweaks for $300 including all parts and labor.  These are FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE by customer request.  I still charge $500 for the full on 7730 swap.  This will have just a basic tune on it.  These are also FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE per customer request.  Prices for tuning are done as needed on each specific tune.  If you want more info or you are trying to figure out which setup works best for your car, feel free to contact me via email.  pilot_bandit@yahoo.com   We will work with you and you can simply mail me your ECU to be chipped and tuned.  (tuning only, I must have the car for the 7730 swap).

I wouldn't mind to trade but I really like my Formula wheels on this car.  I like the white Formula tho, I wouldn't mind having that myself

The Market / 1986 Fiero GT FOR SALE
« on: October 24, 2011, 01:24:09 pm »
As the title says, 86 GT 5 speed swap.  I believe this car was at one time an Auto car.  It has Mr. Mikes leather seats with speakers in the seats as well as at the rear window.  Power windows and locks, upgraded radio with a 89 GTA stereo WITH the steering wheel controls.  All function properly and sound great.  Has the original subwoofer and performance sound system.  The engine was said to have an upgraded cam and it does seem to run much stronger than my other stock 2.8 manual cars.  Has a mild but slightly lopey idle.  No leaks and no rust on the frame.  The passenger door has been hit before, this car was purchased this way.  The previous owner tried to patch the striker on with some metal and welding but didnt do a very good job.  Door shuts and opens fine and will not fly open but this will need to be patched a little nicer.  I do not have door lock keys for it nor a trunk key.  Ignition key is the original.  The windshield will need replacing but can be driven as is.  Will need an alignment due to replacing the front crossmember due to accident damage.  Frame is straight and not tweaked or anything.  The alignment is sighted in and can be driven as is.  This is a car that could be good for a project and needs some love.

Asking $1500.00

The Market / 1987 Fiero GT FOR SALE
« on: October 24, 2011, 01:12:25 pm »
Ive got my 87 up for sale.  2.8 4 speed (swapped out the 5 speed).  Power Windows, power mirrors, ac works, new clutch and flywheel, 108,xxx miles.  Engine is mechanically in good shape with no smoking and good oil pressure.  New oil pump installed when I swapped the clutch.  Car runs strong but tends to be a little cold natured.  Doesnt die or anything when its cold, just runs a little rough for about 2 or 3 minutes.  New EGR tube and solenoid and EGR valve.  Tune up with less than 10,000 miles on it.  The interior could use some love, the drivers seat has a few tears and the typical side bolster tear.  The passenger also has a tear in the seat and some wear on it.  The radio works occasionally but for the most part doesnt stay on long.  It will need a new one.  All the speakers work without issues and sound good.

Asking $3000.00

The car actually has these black 88 Formula wheels on it now.  Will be sold with them.

You can see some of the small paint blemishes but all in all the car is still beautiful and capable of being driven anytime to anywhere.

General Discussion / Re: Rant! Fiero Mechanics
« on: October 24, 2011, 12:10:31 pm »
I do plenty of Fiero work here in Johnson City.  I find most of my Fiero customers are just thankful to find someone who doesnt see the car and turn them right out the door claiming that these cars are just impossible to work on.  If one of them would come having me sign papers, they would no longer be a customer of mine.  I help my customers out 100% if they have problems after my work is done.  It stinks that some people are that way when it comes to having work done of any kind.  I can also see their side when it comes to these cars because so many mechanics that CLAIM they know what they are doing, say they did the work but the car still falls apart and costs twice as much to fix later.

Tech Tips, Tech Questions / Re: Confused about 7730
« on: March 01, 2011, 02:11:57 pm »
Ive replied to your thread on Pennocks.  Ill give some insight here as well.  The 7730 ECM is the best bang for the buck.  If youre ever planning on modding this engine beyond mild, you will be needing more than the stock ECM can offer.  The 7730 uses a knock sensor, the 2.8 DOES have the provisions for a knock sensor on BOTH sides of the engine.  They are in the form of coolant drain plugs on each side.  Ive found on manual cars, the trunk side is easiest to get to.  Ive got 3 7730 swaps done now and have had no problems from any of the ones Ive done.   Oldone on here has one of these swaps Ive done for him and Ive heard nothing from him but good as far as the cars driving characteristics.  My dads car has this swap and his engine is a very highly modded 2.8 stroker engine.  (Stroked to a 3.3)  His car would not even run on ANY tune we put on the stock ECM, it just didnt have the tables we needed to do it.  We have the ability here at my garage to do tuning on either ECM.

If you arent planning on doing anything beyond what your stock 2.8, with very mild mods can do, just stick with a nice mild performance tune to the stock ECU.  It wont be the same gains as the 7730 but you can some some slight performance increases.  My claim to the 20 hp increase on the 7730 swap is with the correct provisions and based on a good condition and running 2.8.  Yes you can see this gain very easily on a stock engine with a good tune and a switch to premium fuel.  You will only likely see a 8 to 10 HP gain to a stock ECU tune due to the fact that it simply wont have the timing curve.  Remember, this is NOT wheel horse power.  We are talking on an average and at the crankshaft and this will all depend on how well your engine runs before hand.

Well, oldones ecm swap is complete and runs great.  I believe he said it seemed gas mileage was better and performance was increased as well.  It sounds really good.  Just let me know if anyone else wants their ecm swapped over.
