GT Rebuild for Father-in-Law

Hey yall!!

First off Thanks for accepting my membership, even though I dont own a Fiero   My name is Jack Morris. Im Ramon Otero's Son-in-Law. I found out about this page from his wife and daughters. I did the Run for the Hills with yall in Helen, GA in 2007, road Shotty in Ramon's Fiero.

Ok, so here's the deal. Im sure yall know Ramon. He is a extremely dedicated Father and Grandfather. Ramon always puts his family's needs ahead of his own. Knowing this he still drives his 86 Fiero that, in my opinion, is in very bad condition, ready for graveyard. He has a GT in pieces, thats in perfect condition, sitting in his garage. At the moment hes away for buisness. I am in a position get it back on the road. His heart is with Fieros.
I have helped rebuild a 85 5.0 Mustang, 87 Camero, and 69 Camero. Plus, I was a M1A1 Tanker in the Army. So I have basic mechanical skills and hopefully, lol, some common sense. I will be using the Chilton and these forums as reference guides for the rebuild. But could totally use some guidance and wisdom from Master Fiero owners!

I helped Ramon to set the fastback clip on the GT. If I remember correctly, there's not a great deal left to be done, although it's been a while since I was there. I was under the impression that he pretty much had what he needed, and was going to finish the car. Maybe I can help. How long until he returns? If you don't want to post that here, please shoot me a Private Message.

Its great you know which Fiero. Everything looks great on it, just dust and aging. Its been in the garage since I have known him. Im in the process of just laying stuff out. He will be back in about 5 weeks. So im goin to do the dirty work so when he gets home he can do the easy stuff.
Life had been crazy so he has not had any "Me" time.

As I remember, the left door skin needed to be replaced (or was that done already?)
The existing tail light harness had to be adapted to the fastback tail light housings. He didn't care anything about installing a fastback tail light harness since it was going to require some rewiring inside the car to make it work.
I don't know if he was going to modify the existing sockets to fit the housings, or modify the housings to fit the sockets.
He mentioned just buying the appropriate bulb sockets (they're pretty common if you know what to look for) and wiring them in to the existing harness.

Yes, the tail lights are hanging out with 2 sets of light covers, one says Pontiac and the other are regular. The door skin he has looks a little scraped.  He has all the moldings and weather striping for it. Its unbelievable how in great of condition this GT is in. The plug wires aren't evendirty lol! Even the rubber on joints look good. No signs of rot or wear. Has 75k on the dash.
Looks like he was messing with the harness and wires running in the ceiling of the crew compartment.
Ill post some pics later. Just cobwebs on this beautiful fiero.

Hey welcome to the madness. Im aerodon, I built the home made 88 Formula for Romoan several years a go!!!  I dident know if he still had it. I have a very nice 86GT tail harness , his for the asking. Also dont hesitate to ask for help from me or just about anybody in the club!!! Good luck.
