WTB, Good Fiero Fan (single speed)
« on: September 22, 2014, 01:43:55 pm »
My fan died on my yellow car. Yes, it is the fan, not the relay (verified by testing).
I may try to take the motor apart, and see if the brushes can be replaced.

There are several at the Lithonia Pull-A-Part yard and I also have one here at the house.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

One of the cars at the run had a "homemade" fan, made by cutting the motor supports from the Fiero fan housing, and putting one of these in it:

Spal 30100400 16" Low Profile Fan
It moves more air and draws less current than the Fiero fan. I'd like to do that eventually, but it costs $65 bucks.

65bucks?  That's like, two trips to Starbucks?
85 GT manual NOW powered by 7730
3.4 bored to 3.5, cammed out and DIS'd
F23 connecting power to ground
My wife won't ride in it. It's "the other woman" ;)

Interesting.... I found out that the fans on 86's are held in by 4 bolts, but the fans on 88's are held in by two bolts at the top, and clips at the bottom. (I took the fan out of my 86 and put it in my 88 -- it works.)

I think I'd have pulled one out of that dead Formula until you get it going.

I got mine from Slack Auto Parts in Oakwood. About $35. About 3 years ago. I don't remember the warranty limit.
You can't fix stupid but, you can adjust it with a 2x4.

Was yours that same fan, or just that same size?
