All OK in Atlanta?
« on: April 05, 2017, 07:56:06 am »
One of my clients flying in to Atlanta from Israel had his flight delayed a day.  Everyone OK down there?

We're supposed to have really bad weather (storms, etc.) today. Three different waves. Some local school systems have closed for the day.
Other than that, I'm not aware of anything.

They haven't reported any damage but there's a warning with strong rotation and hail headed toward the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport and downtown Atlanta.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Well, the first round is over, except for some lightening and occasional heavy rains.  Next round comes in about the beginning of afternoon rush hour.

My son-in-law had a patient transport to Bermuda and they're having to take zig-zag paths to get around the storms, coming back to JFK and then other destinations across the US.

Heard on the radio that there was a tornado down south in Americus GA. Other than a bit of heavy rain, nothing here in North GA

This evening, West GA had some "rotation" but no damage, apparently.
Not sure how far that line has gotten. Sun is out, now, here.
Newton County (East of Atlanta, south of Charlie) had some damage today.

They're talking about some more coming in from Birmingham. Hope it cools down and takes the wind out of them.

How are things in Mo.?  How close is Goodman to you.  I see they suffered some storm damage.

I'd never heard of it.  It was 310 miles away.

We had some wind, and some incredible thunderstorms, but nothing like GrannyLinda described.

Screwy weather!  Yesterday morning there was a light dusting of snow in North Georgia.  Frost predicted for tonight and Saturday night.  Then up to 80*.

Did the snow cause traffic problems?

It was up along the Tennessee border.  The tv station didn't report any traffic problems.  They only showed a couple of back yard scenes, but judging by the 'dusting', it probably didn't.  It was just enough to turn the ground cover white.

I'm just asking, but how often does it snow in Georgia in April?

I remember once getting 6” of snow in April, growing up.  We had a snowball fight, while wearing shorts and T-shirts.
