Former Club President Don Keinlen (Donster)
« on: July 03, 2017, 08:55:41 am »
I got this word from Tim (308 GTB) about Don Keinlen.

Few of you knew that when Don was preparing to move back to Germany, he was developing Parkinson's Disease.  He was definitely diagnosed either just before or just after the move.  Apparently it has progressed somewhat rapidly.

This information from Tim.  Prayers and thoughts for he, Anne and Shanine, if you're so inclinded.

Don is scheduled for surgery to implant a deep brain stimulus (DBS) device on August 8, followed by a "brain pacemaker" to power it on August 9.

A DBS device helps stimulate the areas of the brain that help synchronize nerve impulses and muscle coordination.

He will be in the hospital for about a week after the procedure, and then about another week of bed rest at home.

We've got all of you in our prayers Don.
You've owned a Fiero and survived the Dragon.
You'll come through this with flying colors too!

All our very best,

Roger and Brenda

Well, today is the day.  Procedure 1.  I hope all goes well.  Prayers your way.

They're probably 8 hours or so ahead of me, so it's probably under way.  Prep should've been first thing in the morning.

When the doctors open me up during surgery, I always hope they have no ”oops”, and ”Hmmm.  Never seen that before.”  I sortof dread the post-op review--especially when they want me to sign waiver paperwork.

I hope this is going OK.  No news is good news, right?  I wonder what the recovery time is.

Today was supposed to be the day Donster gets the device to stimulate his, um anhedonia?
