18th Annual Polar Bear Run
« on: November 14, 2017, 06:40:10 pm »
I just received an email from Jim Orr of the Georgia Triumph Association.  Those of you who've done the Polar Bear Run will know him as the person who does the Driver's Meeting before departure.

This year's event will be on December 30th and will start at the Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville, Ga.  It will end in Dahlonega.  The event theme is Six Gaps.  The route will take us through 6 well known mountain gaps on our way to Dahlonega.

They will have event tshirts on sale for $20 and they accept donations in the amount of $10 per car, however you aren't required to make a donation to participate.  ALL proceeds go to support the ALS Society in memorium of one of their members who passed due to ALS.  $10

2017 Polar Bear Run

Start Address: AMP, 20 Duck Thurmond Rd, Dawsonville, GA 30534
Phone: (678) 264-3493
https://atlantamotorsportspark.com/

December 30th at 9:00 AM Facilities will be open. When we arrive each car driver will sign a waiver and there will be a wrist band given to each person.

As a side note, Jim says he is going to promote participation with us in RFTH this year.  A good showing of Fieros may help to bring out more of their people.  They were planning to attend RFTH 22 but they had a conflict of schedule due to being in Switzerland and Austria driving their Triumps through the Alps.

Please Notify The Triumph Club that the Editors of the Grassroots Magizine would help promote such an Event, or just post it. I think D.Wallens would be your Contact at GRM. They Love these runs. Include a phone number and e-mail adress, thanks.

How long will the drive from the Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville, Ga to Dahlonega take?
Round trip is already 7 hours.

Their runs usually are about 3-4 hours.  It's only about 30 minutes between Dawsonville and Dahlonega, but the runs wander around all through the countryside.

You can probably save some time by getting off I-20 in Greensboro at Hwy 44, go into town and pick up 15 North toward Watkinsville.

I can't go this year...still healing. I'd love to though. They are a great bunch of people and have a fun trip. To who (or whom)ever goes, I know you'll have fun too!
You can't fix stupid but, you can adjust it with a 2x4.

The way things are looking at the moment, I won't be able to make it this year.  We'll most likely still be in the hospital.  But my 87 is still available to anyone who would want to drive it.

Well, today is the day!  I only counted 3 or 4 people who planned to go, but the run should be under way.  I hope to see pictures and read about it soon.
