Hurricane NotMyFault
« on: October 09, 2018, 06:32:20 pm »
My name has been misused and given to something portrayed as a monster, which is supposedly set to strike the southeastern coast and leave a path of devastating destruction.  I have been sent texts and emails showing my name big and bold as the label this disaster.  Not me.

I hope no one is in the monster's path.

I can identify with you.  Back when Charlie ripped up the west coast of Florida, to make restitution, I helped someone find a replacement for their Chevy Suburban that was destroyed in the storm.

BTW, I have a pristine 88 T-top 5-speed with just 5000 miles that I have stored near the beach in Panama City.  If it's not there after the storm, you can ease your conscience by getting me another.   ;D

You can move your transmission.  It was pristine.  My conscience doesn't bother me.

EVERY SINGLE person that texts, calls, emails, etc me seems to think they're the ONLY ONE!  There were pages printed with info, left setting on my desk at work.  I politely said, "Thanks for noticing.  Really, I wish you hadn't gone to the trouble.  Really, you shouldn't have."

I'm tempted to answer with "I KNOW!"

The transmission is still in the car.  Fuel pump is dead.  Can't move it.

Um, truck?

How long has this '88 been setting by the salty seaside?

I don't know.  I just remembered I had it when they said Michael was supposed to come ashore in that area.  Reminds me of an old song---Michael Blowed The Boat Ashore, Hallelujah!  Hee Hee.

You mean, Hurricane NotMe.  There probably won't be any Hallelujah after this thing goes ashore.

You need to go get that Fiero.

The forecast track of Hurricane NotMe puts it through Georgia.  Any of our members in its path?  It seems to track slightly below the middle of the state.

with the path as it is , those on the coast will see more than Atlanta. Savannah side that is, south goes without saying.

The projected path is up through Macon, which is approximately the center of the state, moving in a northeast to easterly curve, passing somewhere south of Augusta.  Here, about half way between Atlanta and Athens, they're predicting somewhere less than 2 inches of rain.  40-45 mph winds.

Apparently, the devastation was extensive, worse than previously thought.

There was some pretty heavy damage down in the Albany area.  Several tornadoes were involved, along with the hurricane winds.

One of my friends in Panama City said that the weather stations in the path of the storm were all rendered inop, very early on.
Later data indicates that there were 175 MPH sustained winds, with higher gusts. Category 5.
Yeah. Made a huge mess. Was still a Cat 4 when it entered Georgia, around Donalsonville.
I've seen lots of pics posted by friends in the area. As I said, a huge mess. Georgia Power (among others) sent people from all over the southeast, to assist in restoration.

A call center that was down there probably won't be rebuilt.  I was told to dispose of whatever equipment is left.
