Paint color makes a difference
« on: April 18, 2020, 03:56:40 pm »
Those of you who have seen pictures of my 3800 car probably noticed that I painted the vent on the rear deck black, to contrast with the white car. Well, today I want out and felt the vent and the roof of the car while both were bathed in direct sunlight. The roof of the car was cool to the touch, while the vent was almost too hot to touch. So paint color really does make a difference on how much heat your car absorbs from the sun. The white paint will come in handy in helping to make the car comfortable until I get the AC working.
The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.

This is absolutely true.  Our 56 pontiac has a white roof and no air and is pleasant to drive all year.  My 47 is black and no air and by my temp gun it reads 147 F on the inside of the roof and 135 on the seat, not running just sitting in the sun.
