Old v6 engine
« on: October 26, 2020, 08:33:56 pm »
I'm about to haul the old 2.8 off to the junkyard. Anybody need anything off of it?

You ought to save the heads, if they're good.
They can always be rebuilt/ported/modded, if you have a few hundred laying around, burning a hole in your pocket.
They'll bolt on/work with any 60 degree block, other than the latest VVT 3.5 and 3.9s.
They'll also make superb doorstops.

Or scrap everything.

My old 87 engine is still at the shop.  It dumped the water into the oil and was driven probably less than 10 miles.  We didn't find the cause.  It would need a crank kit, cam and bearings, and might need rings.  I'd be glad to donate it if you want it.  I can muster up most of the stuff that bolts on, too.

2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

if anybody gets that engine, I have a brand new stock camshaft and lifters.
