Greetings All!
« on: November 10, 2020, 05:25:06 pm »
Hi all - this is Joe Doctor and I had the honor to be invited to participate in Run For The Hills back in September.  I joined up a few weeks ago and am remiss in not saying hi.  I want to thank everyone for being welcomed at the event for both my son and I (Eric who is 13).  We live in Corbin, Kentucky and really enjoyed driving down to Dawsonville with Jack Gunsett and Joe Welch, and then a great run back up with everyone!  I look forward to participating in this forum with you all, and next years Run For The Hills - we will be there!

Attached are pics of the red 85 we drove on the trip and our black 86 GT that wasn't quite ready for the trip :)

Thank you!  It has a great 10 foot paint job, and was a complete basket case when we got it in June 2019.  I wanted to take it to Run For The Hills but it just wasn't ready.....and then ended up buying the red GT from Tregg Matthews in Indiana.  Since its a top to bottom build, it was ready to go and did great.  The black GT runs great around town and short trips, but a several hour trip just wasn't something I was comfortable taking my son with me in with it as it still needs some love.

Our plan is to get it ready and possibly take it next year....but I have to admit I am partial to the red one :)

I do like red.  That one in the market is tempting, but I get enough criticism with my current Fiero.

What addiction?  "Addiction" implies a vise.  Having a reliable, electronic nanny-free vehicle is a good thing.

Thank you very much!  The black one will become my son's when he turns 16 (currently 13)- he has helped me do a lot to if over the last year so he has earned it.  He is super excited about it and I've already let him make decisions on work we have done - he has a really good eye for it.  It's bone stock except for a Mike Good cup holder, cat gone before we got it, and a Bonneville factory radio in it.  We also converted the head lights to 87 motors, and went with an 87 gas tank as the 86 tank was rough to say the least.

The red car is an 85, with a 3800na engine and 4t65e tranny from a 00 Bonneville.  It has an Indy interior, Mr. Mikes cloth seats, Grand Am brakes, 18 inch wheels and an 89 IROC spoiler.  Everything works in it and it is an absolute blast to drive.
