Shipping black hole
« on: January 01, 2021, 09:04:25 am »
Before Christmas, I ordered some parts:
1. TFS: parts due 12/23, shipped from Connecticut, ended up in Louisiana, USPS can't find the parts
2. Rodney: parts due 12/28, shipped from Wisconsin, but ended up in New Jersey, no ETA
3. Cobra transmission: part due 12/29, USPS lost it in Arizona
4. Amazon: parts due 12/23, box arrived, some parts showing delivered, nothing in box
5. Amazon: parts due 12/22, now shows due 5/19
6. Ebay: parts due 12/28, shipped from Illinois, lost in distribution network
7. Amazon: parts due 12/28, shipped from Colorado, USPS claims that the truck wrecked
8. Advanced Auto: parts due 12/28, lost by USPS
9. Amazon: parts due 12/23, shipping from about 30 miles away, no ETA
10. Ebay: parts due 12/28, shipped from Indiana, delivered in ENGLAND!
11. Amazon: parts due 12/26, shipped from Kansas, lost in California

I have several shipments due 1/4.  Anyone want to bet on USPS delivering the parts on time?

I've generally had good result, but that was during regular times.  Even then, a Priority Mail package took more than 4 days to go 30 miles.  A UPS-shipped exhaust manifold to Cincinnati got to Kentucky and disappeared.  A USPS Priority Mail small box to the Calgary Canada area went to Miami, then England, then Toronto, then to Vancouver before arriving in the Calgary area over a month later.  Cost--$32  Another USPS small box parcel of a couple of small things for his Fiero shipped to Don in Germany took several weeks to get there than was held for ransom in customs for several weeks.  Cost--$83.

I did receive via USPS all of the things I ordered in early December, within 2 weeks and I was able to give them at Christmas.  USPS.  I think they came from the JCPenney distribution center in Atlanta.  The White Elephant Christmas gift through eBay was ordered at the same time came through UPS  Outside box beaten to death but the loose box inside was miraculously undamaged.

Years ago, a computer went around the world, literally 3 times.

Maybe, if the USPS people were literate, and took pride in their work, the efficiency would reduce costs.

I can't complain about my mail lady.  She always brought the mail to the door for Melanie when she saw one of my vehicles wasn't present.  She has always given us a Christmas card with a message including our name.  The people at the post office is another story.  When I mailed your T-shirt via regular mail, I also mailed that Priority Mail package to Atlanta.  Your regular mail got to you in 2 days.  My Priority Mail envelope to Atlanta took 4 days.  When I complained, the lady told me that I should have paid the $25 extra to guarantee Priority delivery.

Our mail person tramples through our flower beds, delivers mail to the wrong addresses, parks in yards or in the middle of the street, and generally is careless with the mail (dropping it in puddles, throwing it on the porch, etc).  She is belligerant, and is usually on the phone.  She sometimes paces back and forth, yelling on her phone.  She actually drove into a tree, a while back.

Can I help with 10?

My dew strips ended up in equador!! They really really didn't want to give them back.  I think they spent a month or two there, then went back to US...then here.

Well, I don't know where in England.  Apparently, it costs less to ship me another set.  If I find where the stuff I ordered went, you are welcome to them.

USPS is going to have to refund my money.  They screwed up.  Again, and again, and again, and again, and...

Bad Harry Potter quote. Ron was dreaming about the spiders and Harry said you tell those spiders. Spiders being USPS

USPS already thinks I'm rude (interrupting their on-duty, personal phone calls), inconsiderate (putting up fences around my flower beds), and mean (expecting them to deliver mail to the correct address).  I suspect calling them spiders would result in lawyers and things.

I got through about 30 minutes of Harry Potter.

I've had issues lately too.  Got an empty amazon padded envelope,  got a credit once I figured out who to contact.  USPS took 3 weeks to deliver an item I sold on ebay, only negative feedback I've ever gotten in over 20 years on ebay.  Had an ebay item I bought took 3 weeks to get to me from Ohio, spent two weeks in SC. I didnt give them a neg, it was as much their fault as my item being late was mine.

One of my wife's presents was purchased off of ebay, on Dec 8th. Shipped USPS 2 Day Priority shipping. Got here on December 21st. (Spent a week in the Atlanta Distribution Center.) Based upon other stories I'm seeing/hearing, I seem to be lucky.
Tammy ordered some items. Got probably half of her order. The others never showed up. She called the vendor (Belk's) and demanded - and received - a refund.
