1988 was the last year of the Fiero when only 6848 GT’s were produced. The following are unique to the 1988 Fiero GT: Lotus designed the steering, suspension and brakes with coil springs in front and struts in the back. 1984 to 1987 Fieros had front torsion bar suspension from the Chevy Chevette and rear suspension from the GM “X” body; Vented brakes, front and rear replaced unvented brakes of the earlier years; Body color rocker panels replaced the gray lower rockers on previous years; Staggered 215:60/15 front, and 225:60\15 rear tires; The 2.8 Liter multi-port fuel injected V-6 with a balanced crankshaft was added for this last year only.
In the last 3000 miles, everything on this car was completely gone through and documented, including: Alignment and tire balance; stabilizer bar bushings; BF Goodrich Comp T/A tires; All new brake discs/rotors; coolant flush, new coolant tank, radiator cap, engine coolant cap at thermostat pipe, low temp fan switch, 180 degree thermostat, spring loaded belt tensioner system to replace the old slot clamping bolt system that ruins bearings, belts, AC compressor, dryer, and expansion valve, transmission flushed 3 times with new filter and pan gasket, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor (with updated magnet/pickup coil system, high energy ignition module (AC Delco), ignition coil, stainless steel vacuum line set (upgraded CNC bent kit replacing factory plastic lines), fuel pressure regulator, all new fuel block seals, fuel injectors, fuel filter, fuel pump, new filler and vent hoses, new fuel feed/return hoses, fuel sending units, fuel tank straps, resealed lower intake, fuel sending units, fuel tank straps, resealed lower intake, cleaned throttle body, IAC valve, EGR valve, EGR solenoid, professionally cleaned cold start valve, new plenum and throttle body gaskets, air filter, side window outer door wipes/seal, new trunk seal, new front 2-way and rear 3-way speakers, rebuilt headlight gears, oxygen sensor, exhaust manifold gaskets, exhaust pipe joint gaskets, PCV Valve, Valve cover gaskets, valve cover grommets, new OEM oil cap, all new interior bulbs and new headlights, and brake fluid flush. The catalytic converter was replaced with a second muffler, so the engine just purrs. I LOVE this car. I’m only selling it because I bought a 1965 Alfa Romeo to restore.
